I have been a bad holiday blogger! I am sorry! We have been dealing with my car getting fixed and crafting and all of that jazz. But today, I have my car back, I have a chocolate croissant, and I have a soy chai latte. Life is good!

Mmm...Sour cream apple pie! A good thing to have on hand when you find out that someone lit a fire behind your car and melted a bunch of the back of your car! Thanksgiving was fun other than that! I am still in need of sunshine

Awesome
Last night was fun! a little laundry, a drive down to the Colma Joann Fabrics for a bunch of polyfil and a great movie with my best guy! We saw The Fall! It was beautiful and funny and cute. I loved it. Tonight I'm letting Ryan take the bus home and getting some sewing on! Baz Biz is in less than a week, wish me sunshine and warmish weather.

Hey, whatd'ya know, I did get to the little robot guy!
It is funny when you set your mind to something, almost always it works out! I have been trying to make more time and use more energy sewing then sitting around. I think it is working out quite well! Of course I do have a lot of help from "This American Life" and episodes of 30rock for watching on nbc.com, but other than that, its all me. :D
I have a couple of shows coming up in a few weeks and I am trying to get some stuff accomplished for that!
I also have set my mind to cooking more. Ryan has been painting that sign for his work and so yesterday I made garlic bread and baked ziti(well really rigatoni, that is all the noodles I could get), It was *so* tasty and homecooked and great. We used to cook all of the time and lately it has been all going out and picking something up. Its not as good for you, not as good tasting, and I have to leave my little sewing nook. I don't like any of those things. So I am pledging to myself to cook at least 5 nights a week. I have to get to work making a list of meals for the week and getting Ryan to get ingredients from his market.
I am starting to think about sewing up a few gifts for the fam, I think this year is going to be mostly buying stuff but I may have a few things I want to whip up. I am starting to get so exicted! This is definitely my favorite time of year. I have to go to Target this weekend, I think I will pick myself up a Holiday - y present!

Robots on the mind
I'm sewing today! I don't know if I'll get to this little robot guy, I have a few ideas up in that brain of mine! It is a good afternoon! I cleaned the kitchen, straightened my room, downloaded a little 'This American Life', and am now getting down to business! I'm really getting in the holiday spirits, the season is coming so fast.

Ryan at Work...

I got a chance to travel all over this crazy town today on a mission to find fabric, i finally got some good stuff over at Britex, and even though it cost me my first born child, I'm excited about sewing tomorrow! One more week until You Bazaar!
Its getting down to the wire for my show next week, and I can't find any fleece anywhere!! I finally found polyfil, but my search for fleece goes on. Crazy Bay area fabric stores! I do have some reserves, so that is what I am working with. I have gotten some stuff done!
I made some ornaments/package tags out of shrink plastic and they turned out super cute! I love them, they even have bells on them :D I will show you tomorrow!
I decorated my skeleton from Ryan and it is adorable. I am almost ready for Halloween, I am going to be a housewife! I need some heels and an apron and a potholder mitt thing and I will be ready. Ryan is going to be a business man. :D Fun.
So, more creating this week, more working and more fun hopefully~

FUNctional crafting
Its starting to get *chilly* at the bus stop in the morning! So, a repurposed strip of a quilt that fizzled out and a little bit of fleece to back it and keep me toasty and I am on my way all quilty snuggly warm in the morning.
I must say, crafting is my favorite thing and I am such a big fan of being able to just whip up whatever you need. If only I could craft some fun ladies to hang out with. i am tired of the flaky ones hanging out around me. Or I just need my little Ertiepie friend to hang out some more! I need another lady's day for us. I live with 4 boys right now and sometimes you just need to girl-out. You know, eat some ice cream, watch a cheesy romantic movie, that kind of stuff.
I bought some shrinky plastic-y stuff. I am going to try and make a few Christmas time ornaments to have for my show, I hope they turn out how I want. I am having the hardest time finding a fabric store and polyfil. I finally went somewhere today and it sucked. :*( there was a really mean old lady cutting my fabric and telling me how much she liked to correct people's kids and tell them to control them. Bummer.

Somebody's been sewing!!!
that somebody would be this guy. Or girl, whatevs. I have been doing a few projects here and there. Still haven't had a chance to get any polyfil and have been living off of the little bits I have left :D
But I have been stitching up a bit and I am so happy with myself. Tomorrow I am going to venture down to good old Daly city in order to find some fabric. It is getting to be that time for me. Again, I have a show pretty soon that I need to sew for and I better get my stuff together or I will have nothing to sell!! And that would be bad.
So, more dolls for me, more dogs and more spray cans and whatever else I can think of. More monsters! I don't know. More stuff!
I have a couple ideas for cute Christmas-y types of things but nothing has materialized yet.
I still like my job, which is cool. I am working my little butt off. I still need to buy a coat too.
I am hoping to get to a pumpkin patch this weekend. I want some apple cider and a candy apple. MMMM oh and some pumpkins to carve! I don't have a costume, I think I might flake out this year. We will see what I come up with.

Super Yummy Mushroom Stroganoff
There were *tons* of mushrooms in this, but Ryan took most of them...
so easy!
1 TB butter
4 cloves garlic minced
1/2 medium yellow onion, chopped
1 lb white mushrooms sliced
1 TB all purpose flour
1/2 cup dry white wine
1 cup sour cream
8 oz egg noodles, cooked
1. melt butter in a heavy large saucepan over medium heat. Add garlic and saute 30 seconds
2. add onion and saute another 2 minutes
3. add mushrooms and saute until tender, about 10 minutes
*don't worry if the mixture seems too dry*
4. reduce heat to medium, then add flour and stir anthor minute. Add white wine and cook until the mixture thickens, stirring frequently, about another 2-3 minutes.
5. mix in sour cream and season to taste with salt and pepper.
6. Add cooked noodles and blend with sauce.

Feet
We had a weird weird weekend this time around! Good for us but crazy drama all around!
Here we are at the ocean with our feets in the water! It was a beautiful day Sunday and we sauntered down to the beach, rolled up our pant legs and chased the dog into the water! She was sooo funny. Walking into the waves and then when the water hit her jumping and sprinting as fast as she can away! It was great.
Ryan also sold a painting! I am the proudest person ever! So we celebrated with pizza from Za's and ice cream! A super lovely day :D It felt like a mini vacation. So weird!
I also officially am hired at my job this week! Now all I need is a scarf and a coat and I am golden,
I really have to get some things sew too, I have a show coming up in a couple of weeks! :D

I have been drawing a little too!
This is my first possible costume idea for halloween. I think this one might be a little too much for me. I like the idea though! I think I can totally make her into a plush design!
I am trying to get a job, I signed up with a temp agency, hopefully they come up with something soon for me! I am looking on craigslist too!
I have been sewing a little as well. That is good, it took me awhile when I was in Ohio to get to the swing of things. So that is positive! Today I have a couple things to take care of in the car department so that I can continue to park on the street without getting a ticket. But after I do that, I can start my adventure in finding a new fabric store! Exciting!
I already love it here. It is so much different then when I lived in Oakland. I can walk around by myself and feel safe, I have been walking the dog when she needs it. I have been riding the bus places, it is totally fun.
Now I need to get that stuff done so I can get to the fabric store so I can sew up some stuff cause I have *2* shows coming up in November!

So, I got a new sister this weekend.
My brother got married! It was a blast. I had a lot of fun with my mom and dad. And these girls. Especially the little one in the front. She is super funny :D
One more week at work! Then I am on the road again. Awesome.

LaurenSmash loves horses
I got to pet a horse! Well, a few of them. And it was the best!
I went to the Geauga county fair today. It was nice. We ate yummy(bad for you) food, looked at tons of fun stuff, and petted a bunch of animals. It would be my best friend's nightmare :D I petted some horses, some pigs, some goats, a sheep, some bunnies, a duck, a chicken, and i tried to pet an alpaca, but these little kids wouldn't get out of my way. It was so fun!
It was a fun way to spend my Sunday afternoon, especially with my family, the ones I like right now anyways.
Tomorrow I am going to sew, shop and hang out. This week is going to be nice because it is short. I only have to work Tues-weds-thurs and then my brother is getting married. Hopefully it will rain.

mushrooms in my hair....
I had a crazy party weekend. Well party in the sense that I hung out and ate cake on Saturday *and* Sunday with my extended family. It was nice!
I also got 2 new sweaters! I love them and can't wait to go back to SF to wear them, although this is kind of the time of year it warms up back there. Soon enough though, soon enough.
I can't believe my brother is getting married 2 weeks from yesterday! I can't wait, it is going to be such a fun bonding experience for my family. A whole weekend of just us hanging out and marrying off the first born ;D I still have to find ballet shoes and make a bag. I think a little clutch with a bunch of tulle on it. I am hopefully going to take a bunch of pictures. I wish Ryan was coming for it, but soon enough for him too.
My mom is thinking about coming across the country with me and then flying back to Cleveland. I think that would be *so* much fun! I hope she does. We can listen to books on tape, music, and podcasts, eat tons of fun food and camp out in hotel rooms. I am hoping to come back around these parts at Christmas time to hang out with Ryan and my family. We might even drive then too!

He was mad that I never blog about him so I took his picture last night and here is a little blog about him. He is getting married soon. Wishful thinking
I tried and tried and tried and tried to sew last night to hardly any avail. Hmmph. Sometimes I would just rather be lazy and hang out watching movies or tv or just draw. Last night was one of those drawing nights :D i filled a few pages in my sketchbook with fun ideas and listened to music.
I have to get a book on tape or a few for my trip back. I am much better at listening to them now.
I could really go for red robin right now. I think I am going to go and get some. for dinner. I feel like eating french fries. I am never going to fit into my bridemaid's dress :D

Smash Family Wedding
so... my brother is getting married in less than 3 weeks!! I am so excited. I am sure there will be tons of fun pics from that. but last night was the Bachelorette party and boy am I feeling it this morning. I did have a steady diet of french fries and other greasy things today to keep me from dying.
We had a ball though. We had a party bus(which ended up being like a public transportation bus that we could drink on) anyways, the party bus broke down and our super fun driver had to leave us and order us a limo. We had to wait an hour for the limo which sucked. But it was my first time in a limo! I was so disappointed. It was cramped, the driver sucked(he talked in whispers) It really was just a long car. I did have fun taking pictures in the mirror on the celing. That was all I took pics of too. I am strange.
It was a full moon and we were crazy. Jessy had a huge list of things to do that involved accosting people. mostly boys. At one bar I danced the night away with a guy that is getting married in a week and that was fun too.
Today, I played a Wii for the first time. That was more fun than I thought it would be. I definitely should never get one because I would spend my entire day playing with it and get nothing done.
This weekend was pretty much a bust working wise, I feel so sleepy right now, I think I am going to get tons of rest so tomorrow I can sew my fingers to the bone. I am loving the fact that I have a callous on my sewing finger. :D
Did I tell you I want to knit? I read a bunch in my books yesterday and I think I can do it. I just need to get some needles and practice! I found something I want to make so bad, I just have to get to it! So, if you have any knitting tips, I would love to hear them. I will succeed at it.
Oh, and did I tell you I am moving back to California? Cause I am.

Bowling with the fam...
and sucking big time :D
I had a super fun night out with My mom, dad, sis and her bf Officer Ryan. It was nice! Except for the bowling part. I was horrible. And frustrated. and whiny. :D
I will say that if I ever own a house, I am definitely entertaining the thought of putting that carpet in it. :D
The night wasn't completely ruined though, I did get a banana cream pie blizzard from Dairy Queen after. It was *tasty* well, except the part of it that had nerds candy in it, that was kind of weird but whatevs!
Then I came home and passed out when I should have been sewing. I am excited cause I got into You Bazaar in SF at the beginning of November. I am *so* there :D I can't wait to do another show, they are my very favorite thing!

my idea of the best sunday....
I had a great day today! My whole family was gone at a golf thing in Akron, Ohio and I was all alone. It was fabulous!
My day consisted of laundry(seriously, I love laundry), buying a little bit of fabric and craft supplies(I spent under $10 which is always a fun little game I play), sewing up a storm making those little ladies that are above me on the right, and listening to This American Life podcasts.
Ahhh, This American Life podcasts, do you know that I never listened to a podcast on my own before? I am a failure sometimes :D I absolutely loved listening to this when I was sewing! I can't believe what I was missing out on! Why didn't you ever tell me how great these were?(besides you Missy, I *know* you tell me all the time)
I am in a great groove right now, hopefully I can keep it up!

Another day,
another bunch of sewing keeping me sane...
I can't get enough of sewing these gals! So much fun.
I also have a few other designs I am working on. Anything to keep my brain happy while I slave away all day everyday for the man. :D
Does anyone else's brain go from one holiday to the next? Now that my birthday is over, all I can think of is Halloween. How am I going to decorate? I have a few tiny toys already sewn up and more on the way. :D What am I going to wear? Geez, I love holidays :D
